Sampdoria President Massimo Ferrero is considering legal action after allegations of tax evasion.

Italian news agency ANSA reported today that a court in Rome had seized over €1m worth of assets belonging to the Blucerchiati President on suspicion of tax evasion, including his home in the Parioli area of the city.

“With reference to the news published by ANSA today, the lawyer Giuseppina Tenga, legal representative of Massimo Ferrero, states that the reasons for the actions by the court in Rome have not yet been released,” a statement on the club’s website cautioned.

“It’s also pointed out that the seizure stems from tax returns of companies acquired by the Ferrero group in 2009, which were produced and shown to the court in the course of regular payment.

“False, misleading and seriously detrimental to the image of Mr Massimo Ferrero are the reports of ‘concealment and destruction of accounting documents’ referred to by the same ANSA.

“President Ferrero reserves the right to take any action to protect his reputation.”
