Delio Rossi “had no inkling” he was about to be fired by Bologna after a defeat to Inter. “I’m 100 per cent convinced they’ll stay up.”

The Coach was given the axe this afternoon and Roberto Donadoni has now officially taken his place.

“I am a Coach who has been through it all before, so I know how things work. When things don’t go my way, I don’t blame others,” said Rossi in a Press conference.

“There was also a bit of bad luck, but honestly yesterday I had no inkling of the sack, whereas I did have a few days earlier. I thought the situation had changed.

“I haven’t spoken to (President Joey) Saputo? No, I spoke to director (Pantaleo) Corvino. We know each other well and in those situations you don’t needs many words.

“If the decision was right or not, only time will tell. I knew it would be a complicated journey, but there’s no point talking about it now. What we need is to discuss what will happen from today onwards.

“My story here is ended, it could’ve ended sooner or later, but there’s no point going back over the past. Bologna will go forward without me, the important thing is the future.

“I am 100 per cent convinced they’ll stay up, as Bologna are on the right track. When the best players recover and the if the club intervenes where necessary, Bologna will find three teams to put behind them.”

The Rossoblu lost eight out of 10 games this season, beating only newly-promoted Frosinone and Carpi.
