Stefano Okaka said he’ll “pick up my boots and run” if he’s called back for Italy after a strong season at Anderlecht.

The former Sampdoria striker has one senior Azzurri cap, in which he scored, but other than that November 2014 friendly hasn’t featured.

“The last time I spoke to Antonio Conte was a year ago,” he told Sud Presse.

“I don’t know if Azzurri scouts came to watch me in Belgium, but if they call then I’ll pick up my boots and run!

“There are many good forwards in Italy and it’s up to the Coach to decide. I do feel a more complete player than I was a year ago and hope to be called.”

Okaka has scored seven goals in 13 Jupiler Pro League games, plus one in four Europa League appearances.

Tomorrow Conte will name his squad for the friendlies against Belgium and Romania.

“It would be wonderful and amusing to make my Italy comeback against Belgium, seeing as I am playing for Anderlecht.”
