Roma's director general Mauro Baldissoni says the 2-0 win over Lazio is 'worth double': 'We left them behind, and defended the top'.

While the injury of Mohamed Salah may prove the Derby della Capitale costly for the Giallorossi, the league table sees the team only one point away from the first place, and the mood is generally positive.

“It's a victory that's worth double,” said Baldissoni to Roma's official site. “It was obtained with maturity, with a winning mentality, thanks to the work done over the week.

“Roma are a great team, and in spite of the emotional difficulties that characterise the derby, the lads were able to dispute this important match without losing themselves too much.

“Roma have many qualities and if they can keep the ball, they're dangerous.

“It's only right that we should mention today's approach to the game. The team showed maturity without being dominated by their emotions.

“Victory today was worth double. Lazio were connected to the train of the top teams and now we left them behind at -8, while we're still up there.

“Compared to the second part of last season, we've seen a great improvement this year. It comes down to the quality of the individual players, but also to the work that was done for this purpose.

“What I want to talk about is mentality. There's a great difference between being able to win and actually winning. You make that up by developing a winning approach in every gesture, from training to the closing stages of the game.

“From this point of view, I think the team is growing.”
