Juventus will reportedly try to sign Ilkay Gundogan from Borussia Dortmund in January, anticipating Liverpool and Manchester United.

The midfielder’s contract is due to expire in June 2017 and he does not seem intent on signing an extension.

With this in mind, some of Europe’s top clubs are lining up swoops for the 25-year-old at the end of the season.

According to Tuttosport newspaper, Juve could attempt to anticipate the competition – including Liverpool, Manchester United and Barcelona – with a January offer.

It would also help boost the Bianconeri’s squad as they try to climb back up the Serie A table, where they currently sit in seventh place.

This would be the first major signing for Juve in a mid-season transfer window, as they tend to shun big players at this stage of the campaign.

It would be a huge investment, as Gundogan’s price-tag is in the region of €25m and he’d be ineligible to play for Juventus in the Champions League.
