The Argentine winger impressed during a recent draw at San Siro, fuelling reports the Rossoneri would stage a mid-season transfer swoop.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Atalanta not only rejected the approach, but took steps to lock Gomez down.

Over the next few days they’ll meet with his agent to discuss a contract extension to June 2018, which will also include an increase in wages.

The 27-year-old first arrived in Italy for Catania in 2010 and had a brief spell in Ukraine with Metalist before returning for Atalanta in 2014.
