Roma's Iago Falque explains it was the execution rather than the plan that went wrong against Barcelona: 'But it was different from the game against Bayern Munich'.

The Giallorossi environment is waiting Sunday's Serie A game against Atalanta to learn what psychological effects their 6-1 defeat to Barcelona will have on the team.

“Against Barcelona it was a tough defeat and we must get back on track immediately against Atalanta,” said Falque at a promotional event organised by Roma, as reported by VoceGiallorossa.it. “We must show that we are a very strong team.

“We have to correct the mistakes we made and forget the result. This is a different defeat compared to that against Bayern Munich [7-1 in the previous edition of the Champions League]. Every game is different.

“The game was prepared well, the way they all are. But on the pitch we were unable to handle the situation properly.

“We knew that Barcelona are a strong team, and a complicated one to confront. We could have done better.

“We should have been more concentrated and aggressive. The result of BATE [Borisov] perhaps influenced us, but that can't be an excuse.

“We will show our response on Sunday. I hope that after the game against Atalanta the fans will applaud us. We're high up in the championship standings and qualifying from our Champions League group comes down to us.”
