Vincenzo Montella was furious with Sampdoria players after a 4-1 drubbing by Milan. “I want an explanation.”
The Coach took over from Walter Zenga two weeks ago, but lost 1-0 to Udinese and was swept aside at San Siro this evening.
“The players are enthusiastic about the project, but tonight I didn’t see that at all. I want an explanation,” Montella told Mediaset Premium.

“I didn’t see any strength of character. I have to work out what direction we are going in. Compliments to Milan, but I have to look at my own team and we can do decidedly better than this.
“We worked all week and I saw improvements, but they weren’t visible in the match. This team always loses its confidence and organisation in the key moments of a game.
“When this happens, you get embarrassed and I really don’t like that. The squad must acknowledge this and take responsibility.
“I want to work and turn things around, but I need everyone to be on the same page. I didn’t see the right character tonight.
“It is important to all believe in the same thing and bring forward a single idea rather than a group of different ideas colliding.”
