Davide Ballardini saw Palermo “lose confidence and that must never happen” in their 3-0 defeat to Juventus.

Mario Mandzukic broke the deadlock after 54 minutes, but Stefano Sturaro and Simone Zaza goals only came in the final stages.

“I don’t think the result reflects the game, as for 60 minutes Palermo put in a strong performance,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium.

“After their goal we tried to create something, but it was difficult because Juve are deadly on the counter-attack. We didn’t have the solidity necessary against teams like this.

“We lost confidence and that must never happen. We used up a lot of physical and psychological energy in the first hour and had nothing left to react after the goal. We know that the fixtures where we can get points are coming up.”

Palermo did not manage a single shot on target, despite fielding Gaston Brugman, Franco Vazquez and Alberto Gilardino.

“We do not play three strikers, as Brugman is a defender and Vazquez a support forward. Everyone has to work for the team and in the first half we did keep it tight.”
