Inter director Piero Ausilio called the referee “irresponsible” after a 2-1 defeat to Napoli, but “I don’t believe in conspiracies.”

The Nerazzurri went down to 10 men before half-time when Yuto Nagatomo received a second yellow card.

“The biggest disappointment is how these games developed,” director of sport Ausilio told Mediaset Premium.

“Someone wanted to be a protagonist. Before leaving a team down to 10 men in a match like this, you need a real sense of responsibility.

“These are the facts. If you are reduced to 10 because of a presumed foul, I think of our games against Palermo and Bologna too.

“If we had 11 men on the field, we would not have lost this match to Napoli, so I take the opportunity to congratulate the lads on their performance.”

Ausilio was asked if he felt there was a ‘design’ to stop Inter running away at the top of the table.

“I did not talk about a design, I don’t believe in conspiracies. You just need to look at how Murillo, Felipe Melo and tonight Nagatomo were kicked off the pitch. These are serious mistakes that are made against Inter.

“Will we take steps? I don’t know, we are still in the heat of the moment and it’s disappointing to lose a game undeservedly.

“Napoli did well in the first half but Inter, even down to 10, did better after the break. I counted three shots on goal from Gonzalo Higuain and at least four or five dangerous Inter moves plus the two uprights we hit at the end.”
