Radja Nainggolan admits “it wasn’t our best performance” after Roma were held 1-1 by Torino. “It wasn’t a penalty.”

Miralem Pjanic’s free kick sailed in thanks to a Daniele Padelli howler, but deep into stoppages Maxi Lopez converted a contentious spot-kick.

“It wasn’t our best performance, but we showed that we’re willing to fight. We took the lead on a free kick, but you can’t concede a goal like that at the end. If the penalty hadn’t been awarded, we would’ve won the game,” he told Mediaset Premium.

“I think that today we only really allowed a Torino shot on goal after two minutes. I am not a Coach, but Rudi Garcia likes us to press the opposition high up the field.

“There may well be some aspects we’re not doing as well as in other occasions. At this moment we are trying to find the right balance.

“If we had won 1-0 or 2-0, we’d be talking about a great game from the defenders.”

Now Roma go into Wednesday’s Champions League decider with BATE Borisov.

“Today we proved that we are hungry and determined. Those are the most important elements to get results, then you focus on the style of football.

“We must prepare for BATE this way and know we must win to qualify.”
