The Rossoneri were poor for the opening 25 minutes, but took more control as the game wore on.

“We could’ve done better in the first half, but after the break we improved and deserved to win,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium.

“We created many scoring opportunities. Carpi closed up well, we needed some creativity and a bit of luck. We should also have been more determined in front of goal. These are games you have to break through.

“We tried in every way we could think of, but should’ve been more precise. Ultimately we’ve thrown two points away. It’s a pity.

“I repeat we did try to the end and deserved to win for what we did in the second half.”

The Rossoneri would’ve gone within seven points of leaders Inter with a victory this evening, but instead followed up the 4-1 hammering of Sampdoria with this dour display.

“It was a very different game from Samp. Tonight we were unable to find the breakthrough, despite the chances created, and that changes your evaluation of the match.

“If the opposition doesn’t try to come forward and just hoofs the ball clear, you can’t really break them down. The Carpi goalkeeper also did very well.

“Penalty incidents? I never talk about referees.”
