The Bianconeri lost 1-0 at Sevilla last night, allowing Manchester City to sneak past them and win the group, but the midfielder is not overly concerned.

“The goal was to get through,” Pogba told Sky.

“We could have got first place, but we didn’t and now we have to think of other things. We’ll think about the next League game [against Fiorentina], which could be very important for our season, and then we’ll see.

“A team to avoid? As always, we’re Juventus and we always want to win and do well.

“Like last year, whether we play Bayern [Munich] Barça [Barcelona] or Zenit, it’s all the same. It’s a Champions League match, you never know who’ll win.”

The Old Lady had a difficult start to the season, as did Pogba, but the 22-year-old is targeting a return to the top of Serie A.

“It’s not like last year. Last year I started the season with six goals, and at the beginning of this season we didn’t do great, but we’re recovering.

“Personally, I’m always doing my best for the team. If I can score 10 goals for the team and myself it would be something extraordinary.

“It’s true I haven’t scored a lot of goals this season, but it’s not over yet.

“I want the team to win, and returning to top spot to win the Scudetto is the most important thing.

“Can we recover? We have a saying in French: ‘it’s at the end of the dance that you pay the musicians’. It means that we’ll see at the end.”

It has been suggested that a win in Sunday’s Fiorentina game would be like starting the League from scratch, but Pogba isn’t getting carried away.

“You could say that, because we know if we win this game it would be very good for us,” the French international admitted.

“But we’re taking it one game at a time, we’ve achieved nothing yet and there’s still a long way to go.

“I’d like to win against Fiorentina. We know that Fiorentina are very good this year, as are other teams.

“So the most important thing for us is to get a result against them, and against a team that is close to the top.”
