The Giallorossi did not have a single shot on target, the first time this has happened in a Serie A game since 2008, but Daniele De Rossi’s header was ruled out because the Antonio Rudiger cross went out of play.

“You can’t say we didn’t have a single chance,” insisted the Coach on Mediaset Premium after a 0-0 draw.

“We did especially well in the second half and could’ve won. In the first half I don’t remember a single dangerous situation created by our opponents, in a stadium where Juventus, Fiorentina and Inter all lost.

“We did enough to score a goal, but the referee said it was not valid. I am not 100 per cent sure about that, in my view there is a bit of the ball that’s still in play. The rules say the ball has to go over the line completely to be out of play.

“I prefer to talk about football, anyway. I am happy, I saw a solid Roma that did not allow Napoli any space. A 0-0 at the San Paolo is an interesting result, we proved that we have grit and defended very well.

“Edin Dzeko worked hard and sacrificed himself for the team. We only needed one good ball to win the game and we went very close.

“I am happy with the attitude of the team and it’s exactly what I expected.”
