Carpi Coach Fabrizio Castori looks forward to tomorrow’s “prestigious and historic” Coppa Italia tie with Fiorentina.

It kicks off on Wednesday at 15.30 GMT and is a one-off knockout round, so will be decided after 90 minutes, extra time or penalties.

The winners of this tie go on to face Sampdoria or Milan in the quarter-final.

“This is a very prestigious and historic game, because Carpi have never reached the last 16 of the Coppa Italia and we’re facing one of the great teams in Italian football,” said the Coach.

“This is a very prestigious and historic game, because Carpi have never reached the last 16 of the Coppa Italia and we’re facing one of the great teams in Italian football,” said the Coach.

“This is why we are so eager to do well. We’ve trained hard over the last few days at Coverciano and the choice made with the club to stay in Tuscany after the game with Empoli was aimed at preserving energy in a week with three matches.

“This also has to be seen as an opportunity for those who haven’t played as much to show what they can do and make my decisions more difficult.”

It’s a particularly special event for Ryder Matos, who is at Carpi on loan from Fiorentina.
