Alessandro Florenzi said the embrace for Rudi Garcia was decided by Roma players before their 2-0 win over Genoa.

“It’s not our job to confirm the Coach. We all decided that whoever scored, we’d all go over even those on the bench and embrace the Coach,” the midfielder told Mediaset Premium.

“We wanted to send a positive signal, above all to ourselves. We saw Roma today, we saw a team that fought for every ball over 90 minutes and gave 110 per cent. When you do that, victories arrive.”

However, when they went to hug Garcia on the touchline, some supporters in the deserted Olimpico jeered.

“I prefer to think of those fans who started singing towards the 36th minute and moments later I scored. It might be a coincidence… We always say the fans are our extra weapon and I hope the New Year will bring more fans to the stadium.

“We also have to give them better results and hopefully we’ll do that. It’s only natural that while the Curve are split, Lazio and Roma ultras will boycott the games.”
