Milan are reportedly ready to launch a new bid for Zenit St Petersburg midfielder Axel Witsel.
The Rossoneri were believed to be chasing the Belgian midfielder this summer, but were ultimately unable to complete a deal.
However, according to Tuttosport, the Diavolo are looking to push on for the top-three after the winter break, and believe they need new arrivals to help in their quest.
To make it into the Champions League, the club hierarchy is thought to be putting their faith in one or two big signings, similar to the arrival of Mario Balotelli in January 2013.
Witsel is one of the names on the shortlist, with the player said to be keen to leave the Russian club.
While the 26-year-old would not come cheap, Tuttosport believes his desire to leave could reduce the asking price to around €20m.
