“The win in the Coppa [Italia] unblocked us a bit. Winning at San Siro against Inter was a nice Christmas present for our supporters.
“For some time now our mentality in facing up to things has changed. There was an exchange among us, and this allowed us to emerge from the negative moment, with a drive to do well.
“We all fought, and ran, and sacrificed ourselves, with and for the team. Playing every three days made us lose our rhythm.
“We understood many things in this break and now we're ready to start off again.
“Seeing a stadium like the Olimpico remaining empty was sad. Last season when we had 50,000 people there, the drive was something unique. But it all depends on our results.
“I remember, from last season, the return derby, the [Coppa Italia] final against Juventus, and the [Champions League] preliminaries against [Bayer] Leverkusen.
“We were unable to conquer a result, but I think the only time our opponent deserved the win was against Leverkusen. Victory should have been ours in the other two.
“When you play well but you're not winning it means that something's missing. Whatever it is, let's hope we found it among our Christmas presents.”
Lazio will be up against minnows Carpi when Serie A kicks off again.
“It'll be a game full of intensity and fighting spirit. I'm convinced that our team can play on any pitch and against any opponent, and win.”
