The Bianconeri are believed to be in the market for a midfielder in January, with Borussia Dortmund’s Ilkay Gundogan believed to be their priority.

However, the Spaniard has now emerged as their plan B with Dortmund reluctant to let their Germany international go midway through the season.

Tuttosport reports today that Juve director Beppe Marotta and Coach Massimiliano Allegri flew to watch United’s match with Chelsea on December 28 in order to watch Herrera and long-time target Oscar of Chelsea.

Directors Fabio Paratici and Pavel Nedved were then sent to watch Herrera on January 2 against Swansea, according to the newspaper.

A bid for the 26-year-old is likely to be expensive, with the paper saying that the Old Trafford outfit are demanding €30-35m for the midfielder.

A move for Oscar may prove to be easier according to the outlet, as Chelsea will struggle to offer the Brazilian Champions League football after their poor season so far.
