Marco Giampaolo believes Inter “did not deserve” to defeat Empoli and his men were denied a penalty.

The 1-0 result was decided by Mauro Icardi at the Stadio Castellani this evening, ending a club record run of four straight wins.

“I think it was a penalty on Manuel Pucciarelli, but regardless of that the fact remains we played on a par with Inter and are angry because the result penalises us,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium.

“I think it was a penalty on Manuel Pucciarelli, but regardless of that the fact remains we played on a par with Inter and are angry because the result penalises us,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium.

“We have to build on the performance, because results usually come from performances. We wanted to run into space and it was tough early on, as Inter closed everything up and allowed us sterile possession.

“There were many players behind the ball and it was difficult to move around in such tight spaces.”

Inter remain top of the table with Fiorentina, Napoli and Juventus in hot pursuit.

“I don’t know who will win the title, as they all have different styles of football. Inter are clinical, Juventus closer in style to the Nerazzurri, whereas Napoli, Roma and Fiorentina play with more quality.”
