A flurry of reports emerged yesterday suggesting that the French tactician was on the verge of being fired after Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Milan.

Former Giallorossi Coach Luciano Spalletti is the favourite to take the reins, but Gazzetta dello Sport today threw Leonardo’s name into the hat.

The newspaper reports that Roma have contacted the Brazilian and say that he would accept an interim position until the end of the season.

However, it is believed that Leonardo would want a contract that would allow him to stay permanently should he achieve certain objectives this season.

Importantly, the report says that the former Nerazzurri boss's name hasn’t been put to President James Pallotta yet, and the owner is believed to favour Spalletti.

Marcello Lippi, Marcelo Bielsa and Jorge Sampaoli have also been linked with the position.
