Monaco confirmed “we are discussing Stephan El Shaarawy with a big Italian club,” but is it Roma or Fiorentina?
The forward is still owned by Milan, but the interruption of his loan spell at Monaco – with option to buy – means they must have a say in where he goes next.
“We are currently discussing El Shaarawy with a big Italian club,” Monaco President Vadim Vasilyev declared during today’s presentation of replacement Vagner Love.
While Milan confirmed they were in negotiations with Roma for the Little Pharaoh last week, they are not the only side interested.
Genoa have also stepped forward, but Fiorentina are now reportedly contenders for his signature.
The talks with Roma were stalled by the sudden change of management, as Rudi Garcia was sacked and Luciano Spalletti appointed today.
Fiorentina hope they can take advantage of the uncertainty and swoop for El Shaarawy.
