Adriano Galliani confirmed Milan will sign Leonel Vangioni, “possibly in January,” and are targeting Axel Witsel.
The CEO spoke to Mediaset Premium ahead of tonight’s match with Fiorentina.
“This squad remains 28 players, as Kevin-Prince Boateng arrived to replace Suso, who did well today at Genoa. There are negotiations to loan out Alessio Cerci, while Luiz Adriano has already gone to China.”
River Plate confessed Vangioni would be heading to Milan, as he is a free agent in June, but the matter might be brought forward.
“We have a good rapport with River Plate and want to maintain it. He will almost certainly arrive, we announced our interest in the player.
“We’ll see if we are able to reach an agreement with River to anticipate his arrival. It could happen, but it depends more on River than on us. If they should let him go for a reasonable sum, we’d bring him in straight away.”
There have also been reports of negotiations with Inter for defender Andrea Ranocchia.
“It’s more no than yes,” noted Galliani. “We thought about another centre-back when Rodrigo Ely got injured, but we have four and that’s enough.
“Monaco told me that they do not intend to buy Stephan El Shaarawy and stopped playing him for that reason, but I am not irritated. They played him to the last minute before the option became mandatory.
“I really like El Ghazi of Ajax, but he’d only come in if someone else left and we haven’t started negotiations. First we’d have to see Cerci leave and El Shaarawy complete his move to Roma. The market is a chess game.
“Witsel? I heard what the fans asked for, but I don’t think he will leave Zenit in January. We’ll see in July, when he is a free agent.”
