Sinisa Mihajlovic was “very satisfied” with Milan’s victory over Fiorentina and promised another tactical shift.
There were once again reports the Coach would be sacked if he didn’t get the win, so tonight’s 2-0 result at least staves off some of the pressure.
“I’ve had so many Last Chance Saloons, I’ve lost count,” he smiled on Mediaset Premium.
“I am very satisfied with the performance, as we were focused and worked very hard. We deserved the win. Fiorentina had scored in every Serie A game this season, but today we kept a clean sheet.
“I thank the lads for ending a complicated week in the best possible way.”
President Silvio Berlusconi commented he had faith in Mihajlovic and the Coach thanked him.
“A great President is judged not only by his trophy cabinet, but above all in choosing the right moment to say what he said. He gave us calm and confidence, so with those elements you work better.
“However, let’s not forget it is only one game. Hopefully the second half of the season will let us take ‘revenge’ on a few other teams, especially as we have most of the head-to-heads on home turf.
“Juventus and Napoli have something more, but for the rest it remains a very open tournament. These lads deserve faith, because they always showed how much they care about the jersey. It might not have always gone well, but they tried.”
Kevin-Prince Boateng came off the bench and scored, while Mario Balotelli made his comeback four months after hip surgery.
“So far this season we’ve never had a full squad to choose from,” added Mihajlovic. “We started with the 4-3-1-2 system, then went 4-3-3 and with 4-4-2 had good results.
“When we get Boateng, Jeremy Menez and Balotelli back to full fitness, my idea is to play 4-3-1-2. For now we have to continue like this.
“I am happy for Prince and Mario, as today they proved that even not fully fit they can make the difference. Boa trained really hard and deserves this. I am happier than him!”
