Roberto Mancini again slammed Napoli Coach Maurizio Sarri for alleged homophobic slurs. “He offended people who suffer.”
The Inter tactician accused Sarri of hurling the insults at him during a touchline row in last night’s 2-0 Coppa Italia quarter-final win.
“Those phrases didn’t offend me, but they offended many people who are mocked and who suffer every day with these jibes,” Mancini told news agency Ansa.

The Inter tactician accused Sarri of hurling the insults at him during a touchline row in last night’s 2-0 Coppa Italia quarter-final win.
“Those phrases didn’t offend me, but they offended many people who are mocked and who suffer every day with these jibes,” Mancini told news agency Ansa.
This also seems to be a direct appeal to the Disciplinary Commission after reports Sarri will not be given a lengthy ban for the insults.
That’s because as Mancini is not himself gay, calling him homophobic names is to be considered a generic insult rather than specific discrimination.
The incident sparked different approaches to the matter from separate gay rights groups in Italy.
