The Aquile were knocked out of the Coppa Italia quarter-finals by Juventus this week, so must climb the Serie A table to qualify for Europe.

“Defeats are always disappointing, though on Wednesday the team proved it was up to the task and played on level terms with a very strong opponent,” said the Coach.

“Now we have to focus on Serie A and get back to fighting for the positions where we belong, seeing as we are running late.

“There is only one result and one objective: play every game to win. Of course, we remember all too well the performance and the result against Chievo last time.”

Lazio were still shaken from the Champions League play-off exit when they were demolished 4-0 at the Bentegodi.

“I want to see intensity and aggression, with players who leave the pitch absolutely drained. Danilo Cataldi will step in for Lucas Biglia during the injury. He has quality, is intelligent and has improved tactically. This is the chance to prove himself and I’m sure he’ll do well.

“Recently we’ve started playing better and changed our attitude. I think our forwards have done well, it’s just that they all have different characteristics and so I choose them based on the game at hand.

“Filip Djordjevic attacks the space, Alessandro Matri is more of a penalty area presence, Miroslav Klose helps the team by holding up the ball. I’ll make my evaluations.

“Chievo will take the game to us, but we have to get there first with pace and above all precision in our passing. We have to be clean, make as few errors as possible.”

There are problems in defence, as Wesley Hoedt was a late addition to the injury list with a knee problem, joining Federico Marchetti, Mauricio, Santiago Gentiletti, Biglia and Stefan de Vrij.

Lazio squad for Chievo: Berisha, Guerrieri, Matosevic; Basta, Biševac, Braafheid, Konko, Patric, Radu; Candreva, Cataldi, Felipe Anderson, Lulic, Mauri, Milinkovic, Onazi, Parolo; Djordjevic, Keita, Klose, Matri
