The Giallorossi vice-captain was caught on camera appearing to call the Croatian a “damn gypsy” during Sunday night’s match, but as expected the Lega Serie A has not used video evidence to retrospectively punish him.

De Rossi is not included in the Lega Serie A’s official disciplinary findings, aside from confirmation of his seventh booking of the season.

Mattia Cassani of Sampdoria, Chievo defender Bostjan Ceser, Carpi’s Lorenzo Pasciuti and Stefan Radu of Lazio have all been given a one-match suspension for their respective red cards at the weekend.

Also missing the next match are Juventus left-back Patrice Evra, Torino’s Kamil Glik, Mirko Gori of Frosinone, Torino’s Giuseppe Vives and Lazio midfielder Senad Lulic, as they all picked up a fifth booking of the season.

Sampdoria have been hit with a €30,000 fine after fans were caught using chants “expressive of discrimination based on territorial origin” in the game with Napoli, as well as throwing two plastic bottles “in the direction of the referee” at the end of the game.

Frosinone were also fined €30,000 after their supporters insulted an assistant referee, as well as “repeatedly spitting at the same official, who was hit repeatedly in the back and the head”.
