Reports say Chelsea’s Gary Cahill is among the players being monitored by Roma, but his salary demands are too high.

The Blues vice-captain has lost his place in the side this season behind John Terry and Kurt Zouma and has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge.

Il Messaggero reports today that Roma directors are considering a bid for the 30-year-old as they look to strengthen the defence.

However, the newspaper warns that there is great concern over his wages of €5m per season, which would be far too high for the capital club.
