Fiorentina have reportedly abandoned talks with River Plate for defender Emmanuel Mammana.

The 19-year-old was their first choice to reinforce the defence and the offer was said to have reached €8.5m.

However, this evening FirenzeViola.it claim negotiations have broken down definitively, as River Plate continue to demand at least €10m.

As the player is only a teenager with limited experience, the Viola consider this to be an unrealistic figure.

There are also discussions over the payment terms, including tax issues, so there doesn’t seem to be much hope of sorting it out by Monday’s transfer deadline.

It’s reported Fiorentina director Valentino Angeloni will fly back to Italy tomorrow.

Their next target down the list is now Genoa centre-back Sebastien De Maio.
