Manolo Gabbiadini “would’ve gone,” but Napoli rejected every offer from England and Germany, said his agent.

There had been reports of proposals worth €25m plus bonuses from the likes of Wolfsburg, Newcastle United and Swansea City during the transfer window.

“I did my job, I brought offers from England and Germany to (President Aurelio) De Laurentiis’ desk and he always turned them down,” Silvio Pagliari told SportItalia.

“I did my job, I brought offers from England and Germany to (President Aurelio) De Laurentiis’ desk and he always turned them down,” Silvio Pagliari told SportItalia.

“It is pleasing, as that means the club considers him to be important. Hopefully he’ll have more playing time in the second half of the season, as he’d love to get the Scudetto and enter the Euro 2016 squad.

“If this wasn’t a project that put him among the protagonists, then it’d be crazy for Napoli to reject such impressive offers.

“We did indeed receive proposals for €25m plus bonuses, in other words double what Napoli paid for him. Manolo would’ve gone. Someone like him needs to play regularly.

“Every time he steps on to the pitch, he scores. He has one of the lowest wages in the squad, yet always makes his mark.

“Obviously, Maurizio Sarri sees him as an understudy to Gonzalo Higuain, who right now is one of the best in the world.”
