Roberto Mancini was “let down” by his Inter side after a 3-3 draw with Verona. “We threw two points away and it could’ve been worse.”

The Nerazzurri had taken a very early lead, then trailed 3-1 to the bottom of the table club until a late fightback.

“We threw two points away and it could’ve ultimately been worse, because we risked conceding a fourth on the counter at the end,” Mancini told Sky Sport Italia.

“We threw two points away and it could’ve ultimately been worse, because we risked conceding a fourth on the counter at the end,” Mancini told Sky Sport Italia.

“Unfortunately we conceded three goals from set plays. We conceded a similar goal against Milan, so must try to improve these things that we had done well up until a certain point of the campaign.

“It’s not that we played without determination. We conceded on three dead ball situations and have to be more careful, but were determined till the 95th minute.

“We will fight all the way and hopefully will be able to put together a run of victories.”

Felipe Melo was booked, meaning he’ll be suspended against Fiorentina, but also had to be substituted.

“I replaced him because it was risky to keep him on the field, not because he did anything scandalous. Felipe made a foul and I believe if he’d continued making those challenges then he would’ve finished the game early.

“Mauro Icardi is doing his job well, everyone played well today, but the result affects opinion.”
