Simone Zaza’s last-gasp goal gave Juve the 1-0 victory and allowed them to leapfrog the Partenopei at the top of the table.

“We did not lack character, as we came here in a stadium packed with Juventus fans on their own turf and played our football, imposing our style on the game,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“We did well here and only lacked a goal. Because of Juve’s approach, I had to sacrifice myself in defence, as I couldn’t leave Faouzi Ghoulam alone against two.

“We need to stay calm, because they are only one point above and we have to focus on ourselves. We’ll see where we are at the end.

“I am sure the fans are feeling bad, as losing to Juve and losing the leadership is painful. I ask them to stand by us the way they always have done.

“We have to keep our feet on the ground and work hard, as there’s a long way to go.”
