“In the second half we suffered a little and went too deep, but thankfully the third goal shielded us from further problems.

“Empoli are a really good team, but we deserved the points and will relish this with our fans.”

Roma temporarily go into third place and could well keep it, as this weekend there’s FiorentinaNapoli and JuventusInter.

“It is a very open campaign still, we’re in the middle of it and have to continue working like this.

“When the team played without confidence because of all that happened two or three months ago, it was really difficult.

“We got into this negative spiral and for a while played really badly. Now the team has got back to winning with merit, playing well and deserving the points.”
