Radja Nainggolan relished the 4-1 victory over Fiorentina and explained his row with Roma teammate Kostas Manolas.

“We are improving game by game,” he told Sky Sport Italia and Mediaset Premium after the seventh consecutive Serie A victory.

“We studied the match carefully and dominated Fiorentina in every way. We are tighter as a team now, so we concede fewer goals and cover the pitch better. It’s less tiring this way.

“The players who arrived in January are helping, while Luciano Spalletti worked on our defensive moves and made us more organised on a tactical level.

“It’s all positive for us and we must continue improving so we can put pressure on the others.

“What are our ambitions? We have to play our games and keep winning, then hopefully the others will slip up.”

In the final minutes Nainggolan was booked for a scuffle in the wall awaiting a Francesco Totti free kick and he was told off by teammate Manolas, a debate that continued even after the game had ended.

“Unfortunately in a team these little things happen sometimes. I got a stupid yellow card, but I didn’t do anything and I thought it was an over the top decision.

“He told me I was stupid, but I knew that already. We cleared the air, everything’s fine.

“I was hoping Totti would score from that free kick and he nearly did. Francesco remains a great player and his feet still sing.”
