Andrea Barzagli admits his Juventus teammates “make fun of me because I never score,” but he was on target today.

The defender volleyed in from a corner during the 2-0 win away to Atalanta.

“If we want to win, then each of us have to give our all,” Barzagli told Sky Sport Italia and Mediaset Premium.

“My teammates always make fun of me because I never score, but this wasn’t my first goal!”

Curiously, Barzagli’s last goal was also against Atalanta, a penalty in May 2012, but that was 91 games ago.

“The important thing today was to win. We had a good first half and fell away after the break, especially in the last 20 minutes, so thankfully Mario Lemina scored to secure the result.

“The fatigue is starting to take its toll. Juve had a great comeback to go top, but it will only really matter if we’re top at the end.”
