M'Baye Niang is due to undergo surgery and will no longer be available for Milan for the rest of this season.
The footballer was involved in a car accident and injured his ankle. While early assessments seemed a little more optimistic, the club released a statement on their site revealing that he will no longer be able to play for this season.
“AC Milan communicate that today in Amsterdam, M'Baye Niang underwent a specialised visit with Professor Niek Van Dijk, who established that ligament lesion of the left ankle will require a surgical operation,” reads the statement.
“The operation will be performed by Professofr Van Dijk next Friday.
“Professor Van Dijk also effected a clinical and radiographic control on Rodrigo Ely. In the next two weeks the player will undergo a program of rehabilitation that will take him back to professional sport.”
