The Swedish striker played a fantastic ball into Adrien Rabiot, who kept his cool to slot the ball past Thibaut Courtois.

However, the Blues level proceedings 10 minutes later. Willian found Diego Costa in the box, and the Spanish international twisted inside Thiago Silva and found the net with a well-placed left-footed strike.

Ibrahimovic almost restored PSG’s lead as half-time approached, but his header didn’t have the power to beat Courtois.

Costa and Ibrahimovic were spurring their respective teams on, but the game changed when the former pulled up with a hamstring injury.

The former Atletico Madrid striker couldn’t continue, and the Ligue 1 side put the tie beyond doubt.

Angel Di Maria found space down the left and picked out Ibrahimovic with a low cross. The former Milan striker doesn’t miss many, and he volleyed home from six yards, leaving Chelsea needing three.

In the earlier game, Nicolas Gaitan and Anderson Talisca scored in the last five minutes to give Benfica a dramatic win at Zenit St Petersburg.

Brazilian striker Hulk had given the Russian side the lead on 69 minutes, heading in Yuriy Zhirkov’s cross.

As Zenit pushed for a second goal, Gaitian converted after the ball had rebounded off Yuri Lodygin’s crossbar.

That would have sent the Portuguese side through, but they added insult to injury when Gaitan surged forward and a lucky bounce presented Talisca with a chance which he converted.

That means PSG and Benfica join Real Madrid and Wolfsburg in the Quarter-Finals of the competition.

Juventus are looking to join them, and will advance with a win at Bayern Munich next Wednesday.
