It’s time for Chievo to end their 11-year negative streak against Milan, warned Coach Rolando Maran.

“We are meeting a side in good shape and that has to motivate us further. We need to be sharp and positive,” said Maran in a Press conference.

“We have great respect for our opponents, just as we did Napoli last week, but we must always have the type of mentality that saw us take the lead within a minute at the San Paolo.

“We worked hard during the week and analysed the mistakes made against Napoli which proved costly, the kind of errors we must not make again.”

Milan were also beaten last weekend, losing 2-0 to Sassuolo, a result that put a huge dent in their chances of a top five finish.

“The Rossoneri had been recovering ground on all the teams in front of them, so one defeat means little in the grand scheme of things. Sinisa Mihajlovic’s side is in good shape,” assured Maran.

“Chievo have not beaten Milan for 11 years and frankly that is too long. It’s time we interrupt that streak with a great performance and result.

“Serie A safety represents our Scudetto and we have to keep aiming for that target.”

It’ll be an intriguing clash between goalkeepers, as there is a 21-year age gap between Milan’s Gigio Donnarumma and Albano Bizzarri of Chievo.

“It’s nice to see that over the spectrum of the years you still get players putting in quality performances. Alessandro Gamberini, Mariano Izco and Roberto Inglese are injured, so they will not be taking part.”
