Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri won’t think about the Italy bench. “I am more of a club Coach, but never say never.”

His Foxes are five points clear at the top of the Premier League, prompting some to consider him for the Azzurri.

“I have to experience every day in training with the lads, to understand them, share their anxieties and their problems, help them to become good players and good people,” Ranieri told the Corriere dello Sport.

“I have to experience every day in training with the lads, to understand them, share their anxieties and their problems, help them to become good players and good people,” Ranieri told the Corriere dello Sport.

“I am more of a club Coach, not so much suited to the national team.”

He did have a disastrous and very brief spell in charge of Greece, so his reticence is understandable, but Ranieri does leave the door open.

“I have a three-year commitment to Leicester and right now am concentrated on that. I must and indeed want to do a good job for this club.

“After that I don’t know, never say never.”

Italy are looking for a new Coach, as Antonio Conte is widely expected to join Chelsea after Euro 2016.
