“There is some sadness at knocking Juventus out, but also joy at going forward,” the Chilean told Sky Sport Italia.

“I still have many friends here and have Juve in my heart. Insulting chants? I didn’t hear anything! I have a lot of love for the Juventus fans, as I had four marvellous years there.

“It’s tough to play against Juventus, as they are so strong and clinical in attack. It’s difficult to score against them.

“Their first half was incredible, but we kept our heads and in the end turned it around.

“I don’t believe we were afraid, which is why we won. We kept calm and controlled the ball, knowing sooner or later we’d get it back on track.

“I think last season’s Juve was stronger – because I was in it!” he joked.
