The Biancocelesti have had problems with a far-right element of their support, receiving a partial stadium closure earlier this season after racist chants were aimed at Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly.

In the Czech Republic last week, warning were played over the stadium tannoy after travelling fans abused Sparta Prague’s Costa Nhamoinesu during their Europa League Last 16 first leg match.

Today sees the return leg of the tie, and a group of Aquile supporters are making clear that they have no time for the more unsavoury elements of the club’s support.

“We are supporters and fans of Lazio,” a leaflet handed out by the group today begins.

“We’re common, normal fans, not part of any organised group. We’re only here out of love for these colours and the history of this shirt, which has too often been tainted in recent times by the racist behaviour of a minority, which images Lazio itself, and all fans.

“In the name of these principles, today we have returned to the heart of the capital to reaffirm our love for Lazio, convinced that there is no room for discrimination and racism.”
