“Buffon should’ve come out earlier on Lewandowski, smash his face in and ensure he didn’t get the chance to finish,” Tacconi told Radio Kiss Kiss.

“I would’ve smashed everything, from his cheekbones to his knees, but goalkeepers aren’t like they were in my day. It’s all different now, we used to come tearing out.”

Tacconi was Italy’s second choice goalkeeper for many years and was asked which shot-stopper he’s tipping for a bright future.

“Gianluigi Donnarumma, without doubt. For all he’s doing at Milan, he’d deserve a place in the Euro 2016 squad. I’d let him be third choice and breathe in the atmosphere of a major tournament.”
