The tactician arrived this week after Stefano Colantuono was given the sack.

“I found a group of lads who are eager to prove themselves,” said De Canio in his Press conference.

“I have been satisfied with the first week of training. I’d like to help the players feel more secure to express themselves.

“I am counting a great deal on the motivation of the players, as often that can make the difference. I saw everyone highly motivated.

“I urged Antonio Di Natale to stay closer to his teammates and pass on his experience, so he was immediately ready for that role.”

De Canio has already made another change, removing the barriers that blocked the view of the training ground.

“I returned Udinese to the Friulani,” he said.

“Sassuolo’s path has been similar to that of Udinese, from minnows to Serie A stalwarts. It’s a fine team, we must respect them, but also have the desire to turn our own campaign around.”

Udinese squad for Sassuolo: Karnezis, Meret, Romo; Adnan, Armero, Danilo, Domizzi, Edenilson, Felipe, Heurtaux, Pasquale, Piris, Wague, Widmer; Badu, Balic, Fernandes, Hallfredsson, Kuzmanovic, Lodi; Di Natale, Matos, Perica, Thereau, Duvan Zapata
