The Juve goalkeeper is just four minutes away from beating Sebastiano Rossi’s all-time Serie A unbeaten record of 929 minutes, set in 1993-94 at Milan.

“We’ll give it our best shot to stop Buffon breaking the record,” Toro striker Immobile told La Stampa newspaper.

“Mind you, if it means beating Juventus then I’d be happy with a goal at the 90th too. That would also be unforgettable.

“I will admit that as a man and a professional, Buffon does deserve to be the record-holder.”

Immobile is a former Juventus player, but barely featured with the Bianconeri, whereas he found his form at Torino.

“I have never beaten the Bianconeri and I think that time has come to rectify that. It’s funny, the fans of both Toro and Napoli (his hometown club) keep asking me to beat Juve.

“I don’t know how it will end, but we want to leave the pitch to the applause of our supporters.”
