The Giallorossi captain’s current deal is due to expire at the end of the season and he has been linked with a move away as he wants to continue playing, but Roma want him as a director.

Corriere dello Sport reports today that there could still be a way for both parties to get what they want.

The newspaper says that the capital club are ready to offer Totti a new deal until 2017 and then the forward will evaluate his chances of getting game time next season along with Coach Luciano Spalletti.

If he was to struggle for space, Roma could then loan Totti out to a club in MLS so that he can continue playing, but also so that the working relationship between player and club is continued.

However, the outlet also says that Sampdoria are still at the door and are ready to offer Totti a big contract to join the Genoa outfit if he doesn’t renew with the Lupi.
