The Neroverdi boss has been regularly linked with the post, with the Serbian appearing unlikely to be granted a second season at San Siro.

Corriere dello Sport writes today that President Silvio Berlusconi has made his choice and Di Francesco will be the man to take over in Milan.

The paper reports that Diavolo Vice-President Adriano Galliani likes the former Roma midfielder for the work he’s done with Sassuolo, the attractive football he plays and his development of young Italians.

The outlet says that the club will work towards signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic for their new boss, as he is out of contract with PSG this summer.

However, there is also the suggestion that the club could make a surprise effort to sign Roma captain Francesco Totti, who Di Francesco knows well.

The Giallorossi icon is also out of contract this summer and could be departing the club he has spent the entirety of his career at after struggling for game time.
