Mats Hummels and Toni Kroos confirmed defeat to England fired Germany up for the friendly with Italy.

The World Cup holders fumbled a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2 in Berlin on Saturday, but swept the Azzurri aside 4-1 this evening.

“Today we saw what happens when we take to the pitch with the right attitude. Everything went according to plan today. Our makeshift back five worked well,” Hummels told dfb.de.

His teammate Kroos, who opened the scoring in Munich, agreed.
