Roma denied reports that Totti offered to play another year free of charge, but the fact remains his contract expires in June and the club has absolutely no intention of renewing.

Totti insists he still feels like a player, even if he’ll turn 40 in September, and the Corriere dello Sport today suggests he has made up his mind.

The veteran wants to continue his playing career and will therefore go abroad for a new experience, most likely in America’s MLS.

There is another alternative, which would be to play in the Premier League for Claudio Ranieri's Leicester City.

The big fear now is that if Totti does walk away, it’ll become very difficult for him to return and take up a job in Roma’s staff.

That is what happened with Alessandro Del Piero when he left Juventus for Australia, although arguably Roma dealt with the situation in a worse way by not making their position clear to Totti or fans.
