“It must be said four points is still quite a big gap, even if they will have to come to the Olimpico in a head-to-head. We must do incredibly well in order to overtake Napoli.

“It must be said four points is still quite a big gap, even if they will have to come to the Olimpico in a head-to-head. We must do incredibly well in order to overtake Napoli.
“Lazio have some important qualities and an excellent Coach, so it was inevitable we’d struggle a little towards the end, regardless of the result,” Spalletti told Mediaset Premium.
“Antonio Rudiger and Kostas Manolas were giants in the box. Edin Dzeko came on well off the bench, but even before that goal there were chances to finish off the game. Dzeko did what he needed to do, he has different characteristics to the others, but is equally important for our football.
“Diego Perotti and Stephan El Shaarawy are exceptional. The Argentine has a stronger character and is more mature, while Stephan needs to be more aggressive and never rest on his laurels.
“El Shaarawy scored a goal, but he had three or four chances in which he thought he’d already scored and was not decisive. The sooner he improves that area of his game, the sooner he’ll become a champion.”
Francesco Totti remained on the bench in what will probably be his final Derby della Capitale.
“I am the first to be disappointed that I wasn’t able to introduce him. He was meant to play a part in this game, but as a Coach I have to take other things into consideration. There are other players right now who are almost as strong as Francesco and they deserve consideration too.”
