Roma are likely to sell Miralem Pjanic to Chelsea, but the list of possible midfield replacements is still undefined.

It is widely believed that the Giallorossi will sell one prized asset this summer, and the most likely candidates are Pjanic and Radja Nainggolan.

The scales now weigh heavily towards the Bosnian, as TuttoMercatoWeb reports that a negotiation is ongoing between the Premier League club and the player's entourage on the matter of projected salary.

While Roma are very active on the mercato in both defence and offence, reports are conflicting as to who they are actually targeting to replace Pjanic in the midfield.

The Corriere dello Sport says that the Lupi are after Zenit St Petersburg's Axel Witsel, a rumour which is disclaimed by the Gazzetta, who believe the Belgian is seen as an unconvincing option.

The Corriere also believes that Roma are interested in Empoli loanee Piotr Zielinski, owned by Udinese and worth €15m, and Sassuolo's Francesco Magnanelli. Leandro Paredes could also return from his Empoli loan.

The Gazzetta instead reports that their priorities are Anderlecht's Youri Tielemans, an 18-year-old who costs €22-25m, and Ajax's similarly-priced Riechedly Bazoer.

Porto's 19-year-old captain Ruben Neves is also a dream, but the operation seems highly difficult.

Calciomercato.it also adds a few names to the list, claiming that Roma are after Monaco's Joao Moutinho and Southampton's Jordy Clasie.
